On June 20th 2012, in order to improve the friendship between people from Africa and China, China World Peace Foundation, International Liaison Department of CPC’s Central Committee and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League co-invited the youth leaders and some ambassadors from 38 African countries to Peace Garden for planting activities of “Africa-China Youth Friendship Trees”. The air kept cordial with balloons, flags and music played by porcelain instruments. People took the spade, dug the hole, planted the tree and watered in a warm atmosphere. During this activity, 41 Lagerstroemia indica trees representing respective countries were planted here. Chairman Li Ruohong of China World Peace Foundation, Director Cao Baijun of African Bureau of International Liaison Department of CPC’s Central Committee and Commissioner Ralph Ralph Agrippineof Seychelles Foreign Ministry unveiled the bronze medal for Africa-China Youth Friendship Youth Trees in common. Chairman Li Ruohong stated that the Lagerstroemia indica trees planted today in Peace Garden will transmit the Africa-China friendship for thousands of generations with far-reaching importance.
The youth leaders from African countries also left their signatures and dedications: “Blessing for a beautiful future. Green is life. Green is wealth. Without planting a tree, the life would become meaningless.” “China and Africa are countries with traditional exchanges. The cooperation would bring hope…”
Africa-China Youth Friendship Trees will bear witness to the successful hosting of the second Africa-China Youth Leaders Forum, and forever rooted in the Peace Garden.
